چکیده
Cliff recession poses a significant threat to the built environment, transportation infrastructure and land use. In this paper, novel computational framework called Nodal-integration based Particle Finite Element Method (N-PFEM) is developed for modelling cliff resulting from weathering-induced landslides. The N-PFEM combines nodal-integration technique with PFEM in second-order cone programming thus requires no variable mapping operation, which essential classical history-dependent materials, large deformation problems such as landslides processes. To verify N-PFEM, series of benchmarks have been simulated including under both weathering-limited transport-limited conditions. Simulation results are validated detail these limit analysis method, well established geomorphologic models discrete element method. Additionally, measures preventing construction retaining wall structures also investigated using N-PFEM.

The Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) in thermo-mechanical problems
The aim of this work is to develop a numerical framework for accurately and robustly simulating the different conditions exhibited by thermo-mechanical problems. In particular the work will focus on the analysis of problems involving large strains, rotations, multiple contacts, large boundary surface changes and thermal effects. The framework of the numerical scheme is based on the Particle Fin...

This paper presents a study on the metal cutting simulation with a particular numerical technique, the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) with a new modified time integration algorithm and incorporating a contact algorithm capability . The goal is to reproduce the formation of continuous chip in orthogonal machining. The paper tells how metal cutting processes can be modelled with the PFEM a...
متن کاملNon-overlapping Domain Decomposition Method and Nodal Finite Element Method
The non-overlapping domain decomposition method is an efficient approach for solving time harmonic scattering wave problems. It is used here to reduce large size systems solution to that of several systems of small size and to construct efficient procedures to couple finite element and boundary element methods. The lack of a satisfactory treatment of the so-called cross-points, nodes being shar...
متن کاملA Finite Element Based P3M Method for N-body Problems
In this paper we introduce a new mesh-based method for N-body calculations. The method is founded on a particle-particle–particle-mesh (P3M) approach, which decomposes a potential into rapidly decaying short-range interactions and smooth, mesh-resolvable long-range interactions. However, in contrast to the traditional approach of using Gaussian screen functions to accomplish this decomposition,...
